Public participation II: public initiative for a comfortable urban environment

The goal of the project was to activate the public initiative to interact with the authorities involved in urban planning in order to create a healthy and comfortable city. The experience of the Nordic countries (Iceland, Denmark and Norway) and the North-West of Russia (Saint Petersburg and Karelia) was used to build capacity and create networks of project partners and stakeholders (regional and municipal authorities, academia, NGOs, business structures, informal organizations and active citizens)

The project goals were related to the dialogue of stakeholders on the conservation and development of green and public areas in cities and will be supported by project activities. This included seminars, trainings, the creation and implementation of specific design projects for students, a study trip to Denmark and Iceland, the development of the concept of the urban planning Information center, and a conference.
